Ceramic grains have a fracturing characteristic which continually exposes new sharp edges to provide consistency throughout the useful life of the belt. The grinding-inducing additional layer decreases grinding temperature to protect both the belt and the material being worked out. Ceramic belts are ideal for use on nearly any metal but are specifically useful on metals which are heat sensitive or susceptible to contamination such as stainless steel, nickel alloys or cobalt alloys. Ceramic belts can last between 50% and 200% longer than the same belt made with zirconia or other abrasive grain.
